If you don’t take time to plan out your Google Ads campaigns, you’re going to be wasting a lot of money on ads that aren’t going to convert. Make sure you have a target audience in mind, ad copy ready to go, and tracking in place before you run your campaign—and don’t be afraid to test different landing pages or ad copy variations.

Know your audience

Google has two different types of advertising products: pay-per-click (PPC) and search network. Both are great options for reaching customers, but your choice will depend on who you’re trying to reach and how much you’re willing to spend. If you’re just starting out or have a small budget, PPC ads are more affordable because they only appear when someone searches for a related keyword.

It won’t work—and it will lead to wasted money and a less-than-positive experience with PPC advertising. Test one or two keywords at a time and see how they perform before you invest more money in expanding your reach.
